OSU Defeats SMU in Spring Soccer
March 25, 2006 | Cowgirl Soccer
SMU, an NCAA Tournament team in 2005, took the lead just five minutes into the game on a goal by Olivia O'Rear.
The Cowgirls came back to tie the game late in the first half when Ashlyn Brantley found some space at the top of the 18-yard box and beat the SMU keeper in the far corner of the net.
The Cowgirls missed on some scoring opportunities as SMU had some tremendous saves on defense. Radtke had a one-on-one opportunity and was denied and Leah Hope deflected a ball that the keeper made a diving save on to keep the game tied going into halftime.
Radtke scored the lone goal in the second half to put OSU on top. The Cowgirl defense packed it in to protect OSU keeper Erin Stigler and preserve the 2-1 victory.
The Cowgirls next travel to Alabama to take on a pair of tournament teams in Vanderbilt and Samford as OSU continues its spring schedule.
