Cowboy Golf Finishes Third At Southern Highlands Collegiate

The Cowboys entered the final day alone in fourth place and were able to overtake UCLA for the third position after posting a 19-over-par 307 team score on Sunday. OSU finished 20 strokes behind tournament champion UNLV and 10 shots behind second-place Georgia. The Rebels and Bulldogs entered the final round tied for the lead before the host school was able to pull away with a 290 team score to finish at 879.
Cowboy sophomore Pablo Martin continued his string of consecutive top-five finishes after posting a 1-over 73 during his final round to tie for second place at 217. In OSU's five events this year, the Malaga, Spain native has tallied two victories, two runner-up finishes and one third-place showing.
Martin finished tied with UNLV's Seung-su Han for second and three shots behind the Rebels' Matt Kinsinger, who competed as an individual and fired his second consecutive 69 to get to his 214 total.
Redshirt freshman Jonathan Moore was unable to maintain his position in the top 10 after posting an 81 to fall from a tie for sixth into a tie for 20th place at 227.
Junior Tyler Leon moved up three spots into a tie for 25th place after closing with a 77 to finish at 228, while true freshman Trent Leon moved up 17 spots into a tie for 30th with a 230 score after posting a 76 during his final round.
Senior Chris Clarke tied for 54th place with a 234 total after carding a final round of 81.
The Cowboys will continue their spring schedule on March 17 when they travel to Houston to take part in the Hall of Fame Invitational.
