Sarac, Stallings Perform Well in Season Opener
December 09, 2006 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
Sophomore Tihana Sarac was impressive for OSU, as she finished second with a personal best 3,354 points.
Sarac's mark ranks near the top of the school's all-time pentathlon record, as she sits at second-place behind Melody Vaughn's 3,498 point outing at the 1998 Big 12 Indoor Championships.
“(Tihana) competed well,” Cowgirl head coach Rene Sepulveda said. “She did not perform as well as she wanted to in the high jump and 800-meter run. Once she improves in those areas we feel that she will have a shot at scoring for us at the Big 12 Indoor Championships.”
The Cowgirls then got a solid performance from freshman Destyn Stallings, as she finished sixth with 2,721 points in her first career pentathlon.
“It was a great performance by (Destyn) because she hasn't really gotten a chance to compete in some of the events she faced today. She is a great young-athlete, who has a lot of potential.”
