Cowgirl Soccer Ranked in Final Polls
December 05, 2006 | Cowgirl Soccer
Oklahoma State's soccer team was ranked 12th by Soccer Buzz and 17th by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in the final polls released today.
It is the first time in school history the program finished the season ranked. OSU made only its second NCAA Tournament appearance and was eliminated by Clemson in the second round on penalty kicks.
North Carolina claimed its 18th NCAA championship and was ranked No. 1 in the final polls. Texas A&M was the highest Big 12 team ranked at No. 5 after losing to the Tarheels in the quarterfinals.
The Cowgirls return a strong nucleus in 2007 as they look to improve on a second-place Big 12 finish. Junior All-American Yolanda Odenyo leads a group of 18 returning players who will strive to advance deeper in the NCAA Tournament next year.
