Oklahoma State Post-Game Notes
Vs. Alabama  Independence Bowl
Shreveport, La. Â Dec. 28, 2006
Oklahoma State finishes the season with a 7-6 record, its first winning season since 2004.
Oklahoma State's win over Alabama was its first over a Southeastern Conference opponent since a September 19, 1998 victory over MIssissippi State in Stillwater. The Cowboys are now 19-35-1 all-time against SEC foes.
OSU is now 11-6 all-time in bowl games, with the win marking its first bowl victory since a 2002 win over Southern Miss in the Houston Bowl.
The Cowboys scored 458 points in 2006, the third-highest total in school history. Only four OSU teams have scored over 400 points in a season (522 in 1988; 467 in 2003; 446 in 2002).
OSU's 34 points were the most Alabama has given up this season. The previous high against the Crimson Tide was 28 by both Florida and LSU.
Alabama was allowing opponents just 18 points and 287.6 yards of offense per game entering the contest. The Cowboys finished with 34 points and 419 yards.
OSU's 419 yards of total offense was the most against the Crimson Tide this season.
The Cowboys entered the game as one of only two teams nationally to average over 200 yards passing and 200 yards rushing (Boise State is the other). OSU continued that trend against Alabama by passing for 212 yards and rushing for 207.
Senior D'Juan Woods extended his streak of consecutive games with a catch to 34.
Junior Dantrell Savage's 112 rushing yards marked his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season.
Woods finished his OSU career with 163 catches for 2,751 yards, ranking third on the school's all-time list in both categories.
Sophomore quarterback Bobby Reid moved into second place on OSU's single-season total offense list. Reid has amassed 2,766 yards (2,266 passing, 500 rushing) in 2006.
Reid's 2,266 passing yards mark the third-highest single-season total in school history.
Reid finished the season with 500 rushing yards, giving OSU four 500-yard rushers for the first time in school history. Dantrell Savage, Keith Toston and Mike Hamilton also topped 500 yards on the ground in 2006.
Keith Toston's touchdown run in the second quarter marked the first touchdown scored by an OSU freshman in a bowl game since Jamaal Fobbs scored in the 1997 Alamo Bowl.
Toston is the first freshman in OSU history to score multiple touchdowns in a bowl game.
Sophomore punter Matt Fodge ended the season with an average of 44.9 yards per punt, the second-best single-season average in OSU history.
Senior defensive end Victor DeGrate's sack in the third quarter gave him 9.5 for the season. He finished his career with 17 sacks, which ranks sixth on OSU's all-time list.
Sophomore tight end Brandon Pettigrew tied a career high with four catches and set a career best with 65 receiving yards. His previous high marks were four catches for 58 yards at Kansas State earlier this season.
Junior linebacker Jeremy Nethon recorded a career-high 11 tackles.
