Oklahoma State Post-Practice Quotes
Dec. 24, 2006 • Shreveport, La.
OSU head coach Mike Gundy
On today's practice
“We had another good practice. They practiced well today. They moved around well. Coach Glass is running them to help open those lungs up. It was a good day to practice. There was a steady rain out there, and from what I understand it might rain on Thursday. It was good to practice in it and get used to it.”
On practicing in the rain
“They were fine. These guys are going to go out there and practice hard. One thing the staff has done a good job of getting across to them is that we are going to practice for two hours. They might as well have fun out there. The leadership on this team has brought the young players along and they understand that.”
On Alabama playing without a head coach
“Now a days these young players are resilient in so many ways. I guess it could effect them some. It is hard for me to guess what is going on with their team. I know of Joe Kines and I am very familiar with Dave Radar. I have a lot of respect for them as men and as coaches. They are going to prepare this team like it was any other circumstances. I think the players will respond to that. That is my guess.”
Junior running back Dantrell Savage
On today's practice
“It was cold and rainy out there today. We are just trying hard to try to get ready for this game.”
On practicing in bad conditions
“It is not that difficult to practice in the rain. There are some things you have to watch out for. You learn to get through those things. Practice is about focusing on getting better.”
Junior defensive back Martel Van Zant
On Alabama
“I know Alabama is a good team. We have the same record but the records do not matter. I just want to get out there and have the competition. We will see how things go.”
On being a role model
“I do feel like I am a role model to kids, especially deaf kids. People are starting to hear a lot more about me, and I appreciate that.”
On using his other senses
“I have to use my eyes a lot more. I have to see everything because I cannot hear. When the ball moves, I move. When the receiver moves, I move. It is all about using my eyes. I want to play good.”
