Cowgirl Jumpers Shine at KSU All-Comers Meet

The Cowgirls had solid outings from the jumpers and throwers as they inched close to setting NCAA qualifying marks.
OSU was highlighted by a second-place finish from senior Zivile Sikneselyte as she set a personal record in the triple jump with a distance of 40-04. The native of
Sophomore Baiba Blumbaha (16-03.75) and junior Moira Steyn (18-01.50) added top-10 performances in the long jump by finishing fifth and seventh, respectively. The duo also earned top-five finishes in the triple jump as Steyn (fourth-place) jumped 38-1.50, while Blumbaha (fifth-place) jumped a distance of 37-10.50. Sophomore Mateja Posavec finished sixth in the event with a jump of 37-06 (11.44-meters).
In the shot put, junior Lakendra Greathouse (third-place) and sophomore Merritt Dietz (seventh-place) both had top-10 efforts. Greathouse, a native of
OSU then got a solid performance in the weight throw from junior Branighan Vann as she finished third with a toss of 51-05.50 (15.68-meters). Dietz then finished 10th with a throw of 40-04.25 (12.31-meters), while freshman Julie Rader (40-02.75, 12.26-meters) finished 11th in her collegiate debut.
Junior Meghan Sullivan gave the Cowgirls added support with a seventh-place finish in the mile run as she ran a time of 5:41.
The Cowgirls will be back in action at the KSU Invitational on Jan. 5-6 in Manhattan, Kan., after the team returns from the holiday break.
