Cowboys Win South Padre Invitational

Mario Boggan led all scorers with 14 points and was named the tournament Most Valuable Player. The Big 12's second-leading scorer struggled from the field, connecting on just 4-of-14 shots from the floor, but did score four of the team's 11 points in overtime.
The Cowboys (7-0) took an early six-point lead at 8-2 five minutes into the contest. The Bears tied it up five minutes later when Deven Mitchell scored two of his 11 points and make the score 12-12. Both teams went back and forth before OSU took a 25-24 lead into intermission.
Oklahoma State led by four points with 1-1/2 minutes remaining in regulation, but a pair of free throws by Blake Ahearn cut the lead to two at 62-60. After a pair of missed shots, Nathan Bilyeu made a layup with two seconds to push the game into overtime.
JamesOn Curry scored 11 points and was named to the all-tournament team. Freshman Obi Muonelo scored 10 points to keep his double-figure scoring streak alive and was also named to the all-tourney team.
Senior forward David Monds was big in the contest, grabbing 13 rebounds and scoring 12 points for his fourth-career double-double. Terrel Harris scored 13 points to round out the Cowboy double-figure scorers.
OSU shot 44.1 percent from the floor, including 6-of-12 (50 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. The Cowboys also outrebounded the smaller Bears, 40-35.
Oklahoma State will have a few days off before hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday, Nov. 29, inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
