October 07, 2006 | Cowboy Football
With the loss, OSU is now 3-8 all-time in Big 12 openers and 35-52-2 overall in conference openers.
The loss extended a pair of losing streaks for the Cowboys. OSU now has a seven-game road losing streak in Big 12 Conference play (dating back to a win over Missouri on Oct. 23, 2003) and a six-game losing streak against Kansas State in Manhattan (last win was Oct. 29, 1988).
Oklahoma State last opened conference play with a win on the road on Sept. 5, 1998 at Kansas (38-28).
Senior defensive end Victor DeGrate has recorded a sack in four consecutive games. His two sacks against KSU give him five on the season, which ties a career high set last season.
Sophomore tight end Brandon Pettigrew's four catches for 58 yards were both career highs. His 31-yard grab in the fourth quarter was also a career long.
Freshman Perrish Cox' 63-yard punt return was a career long and OSU's longest since Prentiss Elliot's 74 yarder on Nov. 13, 2004 against Baylor.
Grant Jones' 89-yard kickoff return was the longest of his career. His previous high was a 53 yarder against Missouri last season.
Freshman Keith Toston set career highs with 14 carries and 109 yards.
Sophomore quarterback Bobby Reid tossed two touchdown passes against the Wildcats, giving him 12 for the season. OSU had 11 touchdown passes total in 2005.
With his nine-yard reception in the fourth quarter, senior wide receiver D'Juan Woods extended his string of consecutive games with a reception to 26 contests.
