Cowgirls claim first at Cowboy Jamboree

“I told our runners that we didn't need to lose to the teams that were here because none of them were ranked,” said coach Rene Sepulveda. “We didn't run Michelle (Prowse) or Eva (Slavikova), and some of the other girls stepped up and moved into their scoring position.
“We are starting to get some depth, and the girls are starting to push each other.”
The Cowgirls were dominant in the field of 153 runners, finishing five runners in the top 15, while scoring 41 team points. Senior Barbora Kuncova ran in front of the Cowgirls pack, finishing third with a time
“We talked in practice about how we would win this thing,” Kuncova said. “We really wanted to win for coach.”
Senior Valentina Medina, and sophomores Mary Davies and Eva Tomankova each finished in the top 10, as they finished sixth, seventh and 10th, respectively.
“I liked the condition of the course because it was muddy and uneven,” Tomankova said. “Some people didn't like it, but those of us from
OSU got added support from freshmen Nina Andersson and Anissa Angelosante, and sophomore Kim Blomkvist. Andersson clinched the victory for the Cowgirls, as she finished 15th with a time
Other Cowgirls that ran well were redshirt freshman Brittany Hill, sophomore Meghan Sullivan and freshman Jennifer Clarke. The trio finished 44th, 83rd and 109th, respectively.
