Cowboys Post Runner-Up Finish At Ping/Golfweek Preview

The Cowboys entered the day tied with Florida for the tournament lead, but the Gators pulled away from the field after firing an 8-under 272 score to finish at 834, 6-under par, and four strokes clear of OSU and its 838 total.
Junior Pablo Martin entered the day as the individual leader, but slipped into a tie for seventh place after carding a 3-over 73 during his third round. The Malaga, Spain native finished with a 1-under 209 total to come in six strokes behind Florida's Billy Horschel, who started play tied for 10th before blistering the par-70, 6,809-yard layout with a 7-under 63 on Wednesday to take medalist honors.
Senior Ryan Posey narrowly missed his first top 10 since tying for fourth place at the 2005 Waikoloa Intercollegiate with an 11th-place showing. The Dallas, Texas native fired a 2-under 68 that included six birdies to tie six other players at 211.
For the fourth consecutive year, senior Tyler Leon finished in the top 20 at the event, tying for 18th place after a final round 73 put him at 212. After opening with a 3-over 38 on his front nine, the Dallas, Texas native recovered with an even-par inward nine that included a pair of birdies.
Included in the group tied for 18th was sophomore Jonathan Moore, who fired a 2-under 68, marking the 12th sub-70 round of his career. The Vancouver, Wash., native got off to a quick start with birdies on three of his first five holes to finish in red figures for the first time this year.
Sophomore Tyler Leon came in with the squad's low round of the day with a 67 to move up 21 spots into a tie for 28th place at 214. The Dallas, Texas native eagled the par-5 sixth hole for the second consecutive day and tallied a bogey-free back nine to get in with his 3-under score.
The Cowboys will resume their fall slate on Oct. 22 when they travel to Windermere, Fla. to take part in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational.
