October 29, 2006 | Cowboy Football
Home Turf The Oklahoma State Cowboys play home games in consecutive weeks for the first time in nearly a year when they host the No. 20 Nebraska Cornhuskers Saturday afternoon at Boone Pickens Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:36 p.m., with the game scheduled for ABC TV.
Home For The Weekend OSU is playing consecutive home games for the first time since Oct. 29 and Nov. 12 of last season when the Cowboys lost to No. 2 Texas, followed the next week by an upset of No. 13 Texas Tech, 24-17. OSU's 2006 season included just two home games from Sept. 2 to Oct. 21.
The Rebound Bowl Oklahoma State and Nebraska are both coming off tough home losses to ranked teams. A late fumble doomed Nebraska in its loss to Texas (22-20), and Oklahoma State gave up a touchdown with three seconds remaining in the regulation and then failed to convert an extra point in overtime in its 34-33 loss to No. 23 Texas A&M.
Could've, Would've, Should've Oklahoma State is now 1-2 in Big 12 Conference play with the two losses coming by a total of five points (31-27 at Kansas State and 34-33 vs. Texas A&M in overtime). In both games the Cowboys had the lead with two minutes remaining.
ABCs of TV Saturday's game marks OSU's first appearance on ABC Television since November of 2005 when the Cowboys fell at Oklahoma. The ABC cameras are in Stillwater for the first time since the 2004 Bedlam game (Nov. 1) when OU outlasted OSU, 38-35. Overall, OSU is appearing on ABC for the eighth time since the beginning of the 2003 season. OSU is 5-3 in those games.
Nebraska Quickly The Cornhuskers, under third-year head coach Bill Callahan, are 6-2 entering the OSU contest with the only losses coming at the hands of Texas and Southern California. The Cornhuskers are 3-1 in Big 12 play. They lead the Big 12 in total offense and rank No. 10 nationally with 435 yards per game.
