Head Coach Mike Gundy quotes
On the game
“I'm proud of the way our team fought in the second half. It was quite a game going back and forth. We had our chance to win the game when we had them in the fourth-and-long. We could have finished it off right there. We have to find a way to get that accomplished. I was proud of our offense for battling back with a backup quarterback. We rallied and came back. I just wish we could have held up late. We gave up two points on special teams. We fumbled the snap on an extra point in the first quarter of the game, and then we had one blocked in the end. There is the difference in the game. We gave up two points on special teams, and we lost by one.”
On halftime adjustments
“Our coaching staff did a nice job making adjustments at the half. We just tell the guys that this is how we are going to get it done. These are the plays we are going to run. This is what we practiced. This is what you are good at. Let's get it executed.”
On the play of quarterback Zac Robinson
“I thought Zac Robinson did a nice job coming in for the first time, especially on a cold night when he was sitting on the sidelines with his hands in hand warmers. He came in and played with a lot of enthusiasm. He ran the ball well when he had the ball in his hands. He was a leader out there. He handled himself very well. He converted a few third-and-longs. I thought he did well.”
On the two failed extra point attempts
“On the first one we fumbled the snap. I couldn't tell if the snap was high or we just fumbled it. The last one looked like a low kick to me. I'm not sure. I will have to look at the film. There is no excuse for those mistakes. As the head coach, I will take responsibility for that and we will do what we need to do to get those things fixed.”
Oklahoma State Player Quotes
Junior Linebacker Rodrick Johnson
On the defense tonight
“We didn't make the plays when it counted. We had them at 4th-and-13 and couldn't stop them.”
On the defenses' confidence after losing a fourth quarter lead
“That's a hard way to lose a ball game. You think the kick is automatic sometimes, and it's not. This team has overcome a lot of things. This team is ten times better than last year's team. We just need to learn how to win the big one.”
Redshirt Freshman Quarterback Zac Robinson
On his reaction to Bobby Reid's injury
“I didn't know if he would be down for just one play, or if he was really hurt. But I was ready to go.”
On how he prepares as a backup
“You have to prepare like you are the starter. The coaches did a good job all week of preparing us, not only Bobby, but me as well. You really never know what's going to happen
On how he felt once he entered the game
“I felt fine. I was a little bit cold during that first series, but at halftime I got stretched out and warmed up and was ready to go.”
On knowing that Bobby would not return for the second half
“It helped a lot knowing that it was all on me. I was looking forward to the opportunity.”
Junior Wide Receiver Adarius Bowman
On almost missing a wide open catch in the endzone
“At first, I thought someone was on my back. Come to find out, I was just standing there in the back of the endzone all by myself. Those are the hardest ones to catch.”
