10th-ranked Cowgirls Battle Nebraska in Home Finale

Nebraska comes to Stillwater with an 8-5-3 record and a 3-4-1 mark in Big 12 games. The Huskers are coming off of a pair of losses last week to nationally ranked foes Texas A&M and Texas. NU is led by two-time conference player of the year Brittany Timko. Timko leads the Big 12 in goals, assists and points. So far this season she has 29 points on 11 goals and seven assists. Earlier this year, Timko became just the second player in Big 12 history to score 40 goals and dish out 40 assists for her career. The Cowgirl defense also has its hands full with Nebraska forwards Jessie Bruch and Aysha Jamani. Bruch and Jamani have combined for 21 points on the season. The Cornhusker defense is led by preseason All-Big 12 selection Jamie Klages in goal. Klages has 53 saves on the year and a GAA of 1.07. She has recorded three shutouts thus far, but has allowed a goal in seven of Nebraska's eight conference games.
Scouting Oral Roberts
OSU travels to Tulsa on Sunday to face in-state rival Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles are 3-8-3 on the season and 0-3-2 in the Mid-Con. The Golden Eagles are coming off of a big win over Missouri State last week. ORU has four different players who have scored three goals this season. Gentry Detter leads the team in points as she has seven assists to go along with her three goals. Mady Evans and Shelbi Morrison have shared time in goal with Morrison receiving most of the minutes. Evans has a 1.05 GAA in five games, while Morrison boasts a 1.80 average in 11 games.
Last Week
Oklahoma State improved to 12-2-2 overall and 7-1-1 in Big 12 play to assume first-place in the Big 12 standings. The Cowgirls won a road game at Baylor, 3-1, and earned a tie at Texas Tech, 2-2. OSU scored two first half goals against Baylor and were able to coast to victory. Siera Strawser found the net for her first Big 12 goal, and then Kasey Langdon scored the eventual game winner. Baylor got on the board just before halftime, but OSU sealed the deal early in the second half when Adriane Radtke scored to give the Cowgirls a two goal advantage. Jesyca Rosholt put the Cowgirls on the board first against Texas Tech. The Cowgirl defense, however, relaxed and before they knew it Tech led 2-1 late in the second half. Katie Lacey came through in the clutch again scoring with less than eight minutes on the clock to force overtime. Neither team could score in overtime and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Lacey Comes Through in the Clutch
Just a week after senior defender Katie Lacey scored two goals in the final seven minutes of regulation against Iowa State to force overtime, Lacey did it again. This time OSU was trailing Texas Tech 2-1 with less than eight minutes on the clock when Lacey scored her third goal of the season to tie the game. The Cowgirls settled for a tie at Texas Tech, but Lacey saved it from being a loss.
Lacey Honored
Senior Katie Lacey was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week after her performance last weekend against Iowa State and Missouri (10/6-8). Lacey, a native of Yukon, Okla., scored two goals in the final seven minutes of regulation to force overtime. The Cowgirls won in double overtime on a goal by Adriane Radtke. Lacey came back on Sunday and helped the Cowgirl defense shut out Missouri.
Cowgirls Calm Under Pressure
Oklahoma State has found itself trailing in the second half on several occasions this season. OSU has rallied to win on three of those occasions. With Missouri State leading by a goal early in the second half, Yolanda Odenyo scored twice in four minutes to give the Cowgirls the 2-1 victory. Oklahoma led the Cowgirls 1-0 at halftime when senior Ashlyn Brantley scored two goals in a three minute span to give OSU the 2-1 win. Even bigger was when Iowa State led by two goals with under eight minutes remaining in the game when senior Katie Lacey scored a pair of goals to force overtime. The Cowgirls scored in overtime to earn their third come from behind victory of the season. Lacey scored in the final eight minutes to tie the game at Texas Tech, Oklahoma State came out of that game with a draw.
