Media Luncheon

Head Coach Mike Gundy
On Texas A&M
“We are looking forward to homecoming here in Stillwater. We have the opportunity to play a very good football team. It will be a great challenge, on both sides of the ball. We will see a different offense than we have seen in the last few weeks. They do a real nice job of controlling the football. They have a much improved defense. They run to the ball better, in my opinion. The staff is hard at it and the players are looking forward to it.”
On the play of Victor DeGrate
“I think the key for most successful teams is good senior leadership. Victor has been a good leader for us the last 18 months. He trains hard in the off season. He is always on time and he practices hard. The young players see that and it has paid off for him in the game. He is one of those guys who has a high level of endurance. He can go for a long time. He has a lot of success in the third and fourth quarter.”
On playing at home for the first time in a month
“Our players are excited about playing here. I think everybody is aware that when we have played our league games here in the past four or five years we have an advantage. It is a sea of orange and it is loud. There is always a comfort level when playing here. It is nice to get back home. I had forgotten until coach Glass reminded me that we have had four of our first six on the road. You would like to play more at home early but it is the way it is. We deal with it and go on down the road.”
On Texas A&M running back Jorvorskie Lane
“He is playing really well right now. That is good news for them but not for everybody else in the league. He is playing with some confidence right now, in my opinion. Coach Fran and those guys are doing a good job of getting the ball to him. They are controlling the clock with him.”
Junior wide receiver Adarius Bowman
On the second half against Kansas
“Our coaches made some key adjustments at half time. Kansas ran a lot of cover four and cover three, so we tried to beat them on crossing routes.”
On the play of Oklahoma State quarterback Bobby Reid this season
“Ever since I arrived here two summers ago, (Bobby) looks so much more comfortable in the pocket. I feel that he is breaking tackles that he normally would not have done last season. He has grown up and turned into a leader. He is talking in the huddle, pointing out things to the coaches and receivers. He has gotten so much better day-by-day. I consider him a train because once he gets going he is hard to bring down.”
On who the best receiver is in the Big 12 Conference
”D'Juan (Woods) is the best receiver to me because I have learned so much from him. His hand and eye coordination is so good and he has great knowledge of the game. He helps me out day-to-day.”
On being named Big 12 and National Player of the Week
“I am honored for being named by both of those awards. It is still hitting me as I just found out this morning. I appreciate all of the people who have been supporting me. I am ready to get out and practice so I can get my mind off it.”
Sophomore quarterback Bobby Reid
On breaking coach Gundy's total offense record
“Coach (Mike) Gundy didn't say much, but he did congratulate me on a good game. I was happy with that because we came back, fought hard and won the game.”
On overcoming the 17-0 deficit at half time
“We started off really slow. After the two turnovers I committed and the two Keith (Toston) had, we started beating ourselves in and started thinking the game was over. The defense kept us in the game and the offense took it from there.”
On setting a new Oklahoma State record for total offense in a game for an individual
“I have never thrown for 300 yards in my life. It was really exciting.”
On the record setting day by junior Adarius Bowman
“(Bowman) wasn't saying much to me in the huddle. We just went with our play book and it just so happened Kansas double covered D'Juan (Woods). When that happened, Bowman was open and Kansas couldn't tackle him.”
