Postgame Notes vs. Kansas
October 14, 2006 | Cowboy Football
The Cowboys' 17-point, come-from-behind victory equals an identical 17-point rebound over Missouri on Oct. 23, 2004. OSU was down 17-0 at halftime in that game before winning, 20-17.
Junior wide receiver Adarius Bowman set career highs with 14 catches for 300 yards and four touchdowns. His previous career bests were seven catches for 166 yards against Houston earlier this season.
Bowman's receiving numbers also give him the best receiving day in OSU history. The Cowboys' previous high for receiving yards was 232 by Rashaun Woods vs. SMU in 2003, and it ties Rashaun Woods (vs. SMU in 2003) as the second-most catches in a game (the record is 16 by Alex Loyd vs. Kansas in 1949).
ÂÂ Bowman now owns the Big 12 record for receiving yards in a single game. The previous Big 12 record was 255 yards receiving by Joel Filani of Texas Tech vs. Kansas State on Oct. 15, 2005.
Sophomore quarterback Bobby Reid set career-best marks with 23 completions for 411 yards. His previous highs were 14 completions (twice) and 281 yards (Sept. 23 vs. Houston).
Reid's 411 passing yards mare the second-most in a single game in OSU history. Current Cowboy head coach Mike Gundy holds the record with 429 yards passing against Kansas in 1989.
Reid's 457 yards of total offense are the most by a player in school history. The previous record was 434 yards by Gundy against Kansas in 1989.
Reid's 29-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was the longest rush of his career.
With his 14-yard reception in the third quarter, senior wide receiver D'Juan Woods extended his string of consecutive games with a reception to 27.
True freshmen Keith Toston (running back) and Russell Okung (right tackle) and sophomore Quinton Moore (cornerback) earned their first-career starts.
WIth his 71-yard boot in the first quarter, Matt Fodge now has three punts of 70 or more yards this season.
With one sack against KU, senior defensive end Victor DeGrate has recorded a sack in five consecutive games. He now has a career-high six sacks on the season.
Junior wide receiver Anthony Parks' 15-yard catch in the third quarter was the first reception of his career.
