Cowgirls Play Even With No. 25 Wisconsin

Oklahoma Statedrew first blood against 25th-ranked Wisconsin, but OSU could not hold the
lead in the second half as UW tied it and the game ended in a 1-1 tie at the McClimon Soccer Complex in Madison, Wisc.
It marked the second consecutive game for the Cowgirls where they scoredfirst, but could not hold the lead and the game ended in a tie. The Cowgirls finished up the Big Ten/Big12 Challenge with an 0-0-2 record.
The Cowgirls remained unbeaten on the season at 3-0-2, while the Badgers received the first blemish on their perfect record at 3-0-1.
"It was a pretty evenly matched game," head coach Karen Hancock said. "Both teams certainly had their chances to win the game.
"It was a great result for us to go on the road to a nationally ranked team and play them to a draw and have an opportunity to win."
Niccole Grimaldi put the Cowgirls on the board first with a goal in the 27th minute off of a feed from Jesyca Rosholt.
Amy Vermeulen tied the game just six minutes into the start of the second half off of assists from Elise Weber and Allison Priess. The Cowgirls were out shot 14-11, which was the first time all season the Cowgirls did not take more shots than their opponent.
Oklahoma State is scheduled to travel to Lafayette, La., for a pair of gameson Friday and Sunday. The Cowgirls will first face McNeese State Friday evening at 5 p.m. before facing host school Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
