Oklahoma State Opens Big 12 Play With Texas

Oklahoma State host Texas on Friday as Big 12 play gets underway this weekend. OSU comes into the contest as the only unbeaten team in the Big 12 with a 7-0-2 record. The Cowgirls are coming off of two wins against in-state rivals Oral Roberts and Tulsa in the Oklahoma Shootout. Texas comes into the contest ranked No. 21 nationally. The Longhorns are 3-3-1 and are coming off of a win against Rice and a loss to third-ranked Portland.
Scouting the Longhorns
Texas is led offensively by Kelsey Carpenter who has scored three of UT's eight goals this season. Kasey Moore is second on the team with two goals. The Longhorns have split time equally between two goalkeepers this season. Dana Hall and Dianna Pfenninger have both played in all seven games this season. Hall has started most of the games and has recorded a 2-1-1 record. She has recorded 20 saves and allowed three goals. Pfenninger has come on in the second half and has 14 saves and allowed four goals. She has a 1-2 record.
Cowgirls Earn Big 12 Honors
Two Cowgirls were honored by the Big 12 Conference this week for their play in the Oklahoma Shootout. Freshman Bettina Grossmann was named Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman Angelika Feldbacher was named Newcomer of the Week. Grossmann moved into the goal to take the place of the three injured keepers and she provided a shutout against Oral Roberts and recorded four saves over the weekend. Feldbacher scored a goal against both Oral Roberts and Tulsa. She added an assist against TU as well.
Cowgirls Win Oklahoma Shootout
Oklahoma State won its fourth consecutive Oklahoma Shootout title with wins over Oral Roberts and Tulsa. The Cowgirls defeated Oral Roberts on Friday night, 2-0, before defeating Tulsa, 6-1, on Sunday. OSU won the title on goal differential. Oklahoma outscored its two opponents 7-1, while Oklahoma State did them one better, outscoring the opposition 8-1.
Rosholt Scores Hat Trick, Earns Offensive MVP
Jesyca Rosholt scored the 10th hat trick in school history on Sunday night against Tulsa. Teammate Adriane Radtke scored the last hat trick for OSU last season against Sam Houston State. Rosholt was credited with the game winner scoring five minutes into the game that broke an early 1-1 tie. She added two goals in the second half and an assist. Rosholt was named the offensive MVP for the tournament.
Grossmann Earns Defensive MVP
Oklahoma State was put in a bind when its top three goalkeepers were all injured last week. Freshman midfielder Bettina Grossmann bailed them out by shifting to goal for the Oklahoma Shootout. Grossmann was credited with two saves, while shutting out Oral Roberts. Grossmann allowed a goal against Tulsa, but had two more saves. She was named the Defensive MVP for the Oklahoma Shootout.
