Cowboys practice inside stadium

The Cowboys practiced for more than two hours inside Boone Pickens Stadium, preparing for Saturday's 6 p.m. game against Montana State.
The practice also marked the first time the players have really been able to test the new turf. On Saturday, the team went through a mock game on the field.
“It was nice to get out here and work on this field and let our skill players get some traction and see how it felt,” said coach Mike Gundy. “It was really a good workout for us today. We've got another good practice tomorrow, and then we'll start cutting it back Wednesday.”
Late last week, Gundy said he noticed the players were tired of going against each other and were ready to play another team, but on Monday, the first-year coach said he noticed an increase in effort at practice.
Gundy then singled out one group for their hard work.
“I thought our running backs were more efficient today and more productive in all areas,” Gundy said.
Gundy said he plans on having another long practice Tuesday, but then the team will gradually reduce the amount of time spent at practice as gameday approaches.
“I think we have most everything we need in, it's just a matter of the players focusing in and being fundamentally sound in their thought process for execution,” Gundy said. “There are so many things going on in the first game that you have to be able to focus in on what's happening.”
