Fan Day 2005 a Big Success
August 06, 2005 | Cowboy Football
The 2005 edition of the annual OSU football and soccer Fan Day was a big success. This year fans were given the option of choosing between four zones to enter for autographs. This allowed for increased traffic flow and gave fans the ability to obtain a greater amount of autographs in the three hour time slot. An estimated 6,500 Cowboy and Cowgirl fans entered the Athletics Center anxious to see new head coach Mike Gundy and the 2005 edition of the Cowboy Football team. Fans were greeted at the doors by members of Orange Pride and offered free drinks compliments of Dr. Pepper and free posters and schedule cards. Fan Day was such a success that Mike Gundy decided to extend the time allotted for player autographs until all the fans were given the opportunity to meet the players and coaching staff. Following Fan Day, many fans stuck around to view practice as all Cowboy Football practices are open to the public until August 17th.
For the OSU players, Fan Day is a jammed-packed event. In the morning the players met with the media from 9:00 am until 11:00 am and then proceeded to take their headshot for the Boone Pickens Stadium video boards. As the players entered they were greeted by members of the Special Olympics for photos and autographs. Once finished with the media the team ate together before returning to the Athletics Center to sign autographs for Fan Day. Immediately following Fan Day the players went to the locker room and changed into their practice gear and proceeded to the training room to get ready for practice and team meetings.
