Cowgirls Open With Texas State
August 25, 2005 | Cowgirl Soccer
Arkansas State will follow the Texas State game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Cowgirls have six starters returning from a team that went 12-6-2 a year ago. OSU finished seventh in the Big 12, but exited the Big 12 Tournament after a first round tournament loss to Texas A&M.
Texas A&M also ended Texas State's season, but it came in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bobcats are returning 10 starters and have 22 players returning from that tournament team.
OSU is fresh off of a 2-0 exhibition win over Mississippi. Head coach Karen Hancock and her coaching staff would like to thank all the fans who stuck around through the rainstorm to support the Cowgirls despite the late kickoff.
TSU went 1-0-1 in preseason games tying St. Edwards and defeating St. Mary's.
Arkansas State comes to Stillwater after opening the season at Southwest Missouri. The Lady Indians are coming off of a 5-14-1 season and were picked to finish eighth in the Sun Belt Conference. ASU defeated Central Arkansas in an exhibition game.
Admission is free to the Texas State game to all OSU students who present a valid ID. There will be various other promotions throughout the game for all students who have an ID, which includes 50 cent hotdogs at the concession stands.
On Sunday there will be a reunion from soccer camp and all Cowgirl Soccer Campers get in free. All elementary school students get in free if they bring the flyer that was passed out on the first day of school.
