Cowboys practice away from home again
August 24, 2005 | Cowboy Football
After taking Monday off for the first day of classes, wet conditions on the practice field sent the Cowboys to Ponca City to workout.
“It was a good workout,” said coach Mike Gundy. “It was a nice two or two-and-a-half hour practice.”
With practice beginning at 5:45 p.m., the team endured the heat, but got some relief when the sun dipped behind the tree line just beyond the west end zone.
“We had some heat early, but it cooled off,” Gundy said. “The guys remained focused.”
The Cowboys went through many drills in preparation for the Sept. 3 season opener against Montana State, and Gundy liked how the team finished its fourth practice in Ponca City in a week.
“We had a nice two-minute drill to end practice,” Gundy said. “They did some good work.”
As of late Tuesday night, the team is uncertain if it will practice at home Wednesday afternoon.
“We just have to wait it and see,” Gundy said. “It's supposed to rain again sometime in the night, so we'll just have to wait and see what the weather does.”
