Meet Andre Sexton
August 15, 2005 | Cowboy Football
“I chose to come here because I wanted to play in the Big 12 conference. The coaching staff was the best out of all the other schools I visited.”
What has been the biggest adjustment from high school to Division I football?
“I'd say the biggest adjustments from high school have been the defensive schemes. It's a little faster, but I can handle that. Trying to learn everything has been the main adjustment.”
What are your goals this season?
“My goal this season is to try and get some playing time.”
How do you compare these coaches to your high school coaches?
“The coaches here are different because they have more work to do and they put more time into studying film. I feel that we are getting close, and we will get closer as the season goes on.”
How has practices been for you so far?
“Its been good and fast. I have been trying to pick up everything quick. I've started getting used to the new techniques and getting into the groove of everything. I believe that practice makes you better and you have to go out and work hard every day.”
How would you describe the secondary coaches?
“The secondary coaches are really energetic and always on you.”
What are your impressions of coach (Mike) Gundy?
“Coach Gundy is a good guy. I like his energy because he is always moving around.”
What do you think of the OSU wide receivers play during practice?
“We have good wide receivers. They are all stepping up, making big catches and running good routes, which is what makes us better in the secondary.”
How is the relationship with the other players that compete in the secondary?
“We are all starting to come together as a family. We are a lot closer to each other than when we arrived here because we eat meals, practice and hang out together.”
What do you do away from football?
“I get on the computer and I try to get some rest. I like playing NCAA Football 2006 because of the new additions and it's cool to play as yourself.”
What player would you compare yourself to?
“I compare myself to Ed Reed because I like the way he moves around, picks the ball off, how he will come out and hit you and how he uses his speed. That is why I try to model my game after him.”
What are you biggest assets you bring to the field?
“The biggest assets I bring are my speed and my hitting. My ability to cover ground is good. Just by being able to turn around and make some big plays.”
