Getting to know the Newcomers: Jeremy Broadway
August 11, 2005 | Cowboy Football
What has been the biggest adjustment from high school to Division I football? “The speed and the knowledge of the game is the biggest adjustment. You have to know a lot more with a no-huddle offense. Everybody is just so quick.”
What are your goals this season? “My goals this season are to learn all I can and help the team as much as I can. The most important thing for me this season is to learn all of my responsibilities.”
How would you describe your style of play? “I am a go-getter, and I like the long ball. If there is an area that I need to improve on, it's blocking. I have been working on it a lot.”
How are the relationships with these coaches compare with the coaches you had in high school? “It is more of a business and a learning process. They teach more and they are more honest. I feel closer to these coaches than I was with my high school coaches.”
How has practices been for you so far? “Right now my body feels like it is 400 pounds. There has been a lot of hard work and that is what it takes to compete.”
How would you describe coach (Gunter) Brewer? “He is funny. He is also all about his business. He is a good teacher because he spends a lot time teaching the young guys what to do.”
How is the wide receiver group as a whole? “I think the whole receiving core has a lot of talent. Everyone is so talented, I learn a lot from all of them. As a whole, we have all developed real good relationships, by always joking around and hanging out with each other.”
What do you do away from football? “Sleep. I haven't watched television since I have been here. I like to talk to my younger brother and to the rest of my family on the phone.”
What player would you compare yourself to? “I don't compare myself to anyone, but I would like to play as well as Terrell Owens. What I'm going to try and do is start my own legacy.”
