Prowse Earns ESPN The Magazine Academic Honor

Prowse, a first-team academic All-Big 12 selection in both track & field and cross country this year, was nominated with a 4.00 grade point average as a health and human performance studies major and was a significant contributor to the Cowgirl cross country/ track and field team.
Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, maintain a cumulative 3.20 grade point average and be a significant contributor to their team to be eligible for the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-Academic award.
Prowse, a two-time presidents and Big 12 honor roll winner, was a Midwest regional qualifier in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, 5,000-meter run and the 1,500-meter run. Due to an injury, Prowse was held out of the Midwest Regional Championships, but will look to return in August when she will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2005 World University Games, in Izmir, Turkey and compete in her last season of eligibility in cross country for the cowgirls this fall.
Prowse joins seven other district first team student-athletes, as the 80 honorees will be judged on their academic and athletic achievements to determine who will be academic All-Americans.
The Academic All-America teams are to be announced Thursday, June 23.
