Erzinger a Late Pick for All-America Honors

Erzinger, a junior from Houston, Texas, earned the honor after placing 14th in the 400-meter hurdles during the semifinal runs at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Erzinger failed to qualify for the finals at the championships, as the top eight student-athletes advance from the semifinals.
During the 2005 season, Erzinger finished fourth at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships and fourth at the Midwest Regional Championships, in the 400-meter dash.
“She was pleasantly surprised,” head coach Rene Sepulveda said. “She (Erzinger) told me that her goal next year is to finish in the top eight.”
Erzinger is the second Cowgirl to be named All-American in the event, as Leisa Davis-Knowles earned the honor in 1985 and 1986. Both girls were coached by volunteer assistant coach Jim Bolding, who holds the Oklahoma State men's school record in the event with a time of 49.50, which he set in 1972.
Erzinger also joins three teammates for All-America honors, senior Delisa McClain (hammer throw), senior Halee Prickett (shot put) and freshman Mary Davies (10,000-meter run).
