James made a significant impact last year as a true freshman, and has high expectations going into 2005. He is a talented and versatile player whose talents will be needed on the defensive side. 2004: James saw action in nine games, mainly on special teams, and recorded seven tackles with a fumble recovery. He had three tackles against Texas Tech in the defensive secondary. He made one tackle against Baylor, Texas, Missouri and SMU. High School: James had three interceptions and had a fourth that he returned for a touchdown called back on a Peñalty. He helped lead Galena Park North Shore to an unbeaten season and the Class 5A Division I State Championship in Texas. His senior season numbers included 65 total tackles, three interceptions, three fumbles caused and two fumbles recovered. He also scored three touchdowns. He excelled on kickoff returns, and was a two-time all-district player and was named All-Greater Houston. Personal: Born Oct. 23, 1985, in Houston, Texas, Stephen is the son of Monica and Frederick Bevels. He has one brother, Jaden, and a sister, Kourtney. Stephen is majoring in general business at Oklahoma State.
