Duren is an All-Big 12 candidate who has as much experience as anyone on the defensive side of the football. Year in and out, this versatile player has proven to be durable, dependable and productive. His first two years at Oklahoma State, all he did was lead the team in tackles. His 70 stops in 2004 were the second-most on the team to Jamie Thompson's 85. He's made 33 total starts in his Oklahoma State career, including 20 consecutive. Going into 2005, Duren has 251 career tackles, ranking 21st on the career chart. He is just 55 tackles from moving into the career top 10 in tackles. 2004: Duren, an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection, made two tackles against Texas Tech. He finished with six tackles against Baylor and six tackles against Texas. He finished with eight tackles against Oklahoma and recorded nine tackles in the win over Missouri. Duren made five primary tackles against Texas A&M, and had five tackles with two interceptions and a tackle for loss in the win over Colorado. He returned one of the INTs 34 yards for a touchdown against the Buffaloes. He finished with six tackles against Iowa State. He led the team with six stops against SMU, including a quarterback sack, and made three tackles against Tulsa. He finished tied for the team lead with seven stops and also had a fumble recovery against the Bruins. 2003: Duren ended the regular season as the leader in tackles for the second-straight year with 88. He added nine tackles in the Cotton Bowl game against Ole Miss to finish the 2004 season with 97 total. He was an honorable mention All-Big 12 choice by the Associated Press. Duren was slowed in the preseason with an injury and did not start in the first four games of the year. He regained his starting role against Louisiana-Lafayette, and finished with nine starts on the year. He had three tackles for loss, including 1-1/2 sacks, and also had three pass breakups and five quarterback hurries. He recorded six tackles against Baylor, including two for losses. He made eight tackles against Kansas and had five total tackles against Texas. Duren had nine total tackles, including six primary tackles and three assists, against Oklahoma, and finished with seven total tackles and half a sack against Texas A&M. He made seven stops against Texas Tech, and also had a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup. Started for the first time this season against Kansas State and made a team-high 10 tackles. He made six tackles with a pass breakup against ULL and finished with seven tackles against SMU. Contributed four tackles against SMS and made seven tackles against Wyoming. His streak of 13 straight starts was snapped against Nebraska in the season opener, but he did finish with nine tackles and a blocked field goal attempt. 2002: Duren moved into a starter's role at linebacker and excelled in his role as a run stopper. He was named the Big 12 Player of the Week (Dec. 2) for his 11 tackle, one sack performance against Oklahoma. Finished the season as the team leader in tackles with 84. Led the team with 12 total tackles against BU, including two for losses. Ended up with six tackles and a pass breakup against Kansas. Compiled seven stops against Texas Tech. led the squad with nine tackles against Texas A&M. Had six stops against Nebraska. Recorded seven tackles against Kansas State. Made seven tackles against Texas with a pass breakup. Had one tackle against SMU. Made seven tackles, including one for loss, against UCLA. Was in on four tackles with a quarterback hurry against Northern Iowa. Made his first start and collegiate appearance against Louisiana Tech and made four tackles and recovered a fumble against the Bulldogs. 2001: His redshirt season at Oklahoma State. High School: Duren was a two-way performer in football, was a two-time state champion in wrestling, and starting shortstop in baseball. Playing quarterback in Del City's option offense, Duren had 839 yards rushing and 990 yards passing with 14 touchdowns as a senior. His career numbers include 2,482 yards rushing, 2,787 yards passing and 42 touchdowns. He was also one of the top kick returners in the state. He was listed as a first-team All-State selection by both the Daily Oklahoman and the Tulsa World as a defensive back. Duren was also a top-10 Oklahoma prospect according to First Down Sports. Duren was recruited by Nebraska and Texas A&M, among others. Personal: Born Oct. 19, 1981, Paul is the son of Steve and Mydonna Duren. He is majoring in economics at Oklahoma State.
