One of the leaders of Oklahoma State's defense is back for his senior season. Thompson had a sensational junior season in 2004 and should be considered an honors candidate going into the 2005 season. He has great football skills and big-play ability from his safety spot. 2004: Thompson, a second-team All-Big 12 pick by the media, finished the season as the team's leading tackler with 85 stops. He also had three sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles. He led the team with 10 tackles and had a 68 yard interception return for a score against Texas Tech. He had six tackles against Baylor and made six stops against Texas. He led the Cowboys with 10 tackles and a quarterback hurry against Oklahoma. He had nine tackles, including an 18 yard sack in the win over Missouri. Thompson led the team with a career-high 12 tackles against Texas A&M and had seven tackles with a pass breakup against Colorado. He had a stellar afternoon against Iowa State, finishing with seven tackles, including two sacks, with two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He finished with five tackles against SMU and contributed three tackles against Tulsa. He finished with five tackles, including a forced fumble and an interception, in the win over UCLA. 2003: Thompson played in 10 of 13 games and found himself in the starting lineup against Southwest Missouri State and Texas Tech. He finished the season with 13 total tackles, two tackles for losses and one sack for minus nine yards. Junior College: Thompson originally came out of Florida and spent two seasons at Butler County Community College. He was a standout at Butler County in 2002, earning second-team NJCAA All-America status as a defensive back. Jamie finished his redshirt freshman year with 59 total tackles, including 43 stops, and 10-1/2 tackles behind the line of scrimmage for 41 yards lost. He also had six pass breakups, two interceptions, caused one fumble and recovered another. He was named first-team All-Jayhawk Conference after helping lead Butler County to a conference championship. Jamie was rated as the 19th-best junior college defensive back in the country, and the 125th juco prospect overall. He redshirted his freshman year at Butler County. High School: Jamie was named first-team All-State for Class 3A in Florida his senior year. He also played basketball, and was named honorable mention All-State his senior season. Personal: Jamie is the son of Sam and Inez Thompson. He is majoring in sociology at Oklahoma State.
