One of the most talented and versatile players on the offensive side of the football, Johnson moved from tight end to the interior for the spring and made an immediate impact. He should go into the fall as a starter along the offensive front. He has great size and big-time quickness. Johnson is a leader, both on the field and off. 2004: Johnson spent the 2004 season as a physical blocking tight end. He finished with four catches for 51 yards, including a long of 22 against Texas Tech. He caught one pass for four yards against Oklahoma and two passes for 25 yards against Texas A&M. 2003: Johnson made two starts while seeing action in all 13 games at tight end. He caught seven passes for 67 yards with two touchdowns on the year. His scoring grabs came against Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas Tech. His best game was a two catch for 20 yards showing against the Red Raiders. 2002: Johnson started in three games and played in nine. He finished the season with eight receptions for 109 yards and two touchdowns. He ended the regular season snagging a 13-yard reception in the end zone against Oklahoma for his second touchdown of the year. Johnson was impressive in the Houston Bowl win over Southern Miss with three catches for 47 yards, including a long of 25 yards. His second start of the season came at Texas Tech, and his third start was against Baylor. He had one reception against Kansas for nine yards. His first start of the season came against the Longhorns. He had two catches against SMU for 28 yards, his first for a touchdown and his second was his season long of 22 yards. Johnson opened the season with one catch against Louisiana Tech for 12 yards. High School: Johnson was named the all-district tight end for 9-4A after a senior season in which he had 13 receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he finished with 56 tackles, five pass deflections, three sacks, and a fumble recovery. He also excelled on the hardwood for Sherman High, earning co-MVP honors in the district in basketball. Johnson was recruited by Texas A&M, Baylor, SMU and TCU. Personal: Born on May 2, 1984, in Durant, Okla., Charlie is the son of Charles and Pam Johnson. He is majoring in education at Oklahoma State.
