Zack Robinson Named First-Team Academic All-American
June 18, 2005 | Cowboy Golf
Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the Men's At-Large Team for the Academic All-America program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
The Ft. Worth, Texas, native was one of 15 student-athletes named to the first team and one of just two players among the group with a 4.0 grade point average. In addition, Robinson was one of only four underclassmen tabbed as a first-team selection.
The achievement capped a successful campaign for Robinson that included third-team All-America honors on the course after posting six top-10 finishes in 13 starts. A first-team All-Big 12 and All-Central Region pick, he helped guide OSU to a No. 1 national ranking and seven team victories this past season as well.
A political science major, Robinson also enjoyed a stellar run in the classroom where he was named a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar and was the lone player named to the Academic All-Big 12 team with a 4.0 grade point average.
To be eligible for All-America status, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
