McClain Earns Spot in Nationals

Senior Delisa McClain led the Cowgirls on day one, as she finished second in the hammer throw with a personal and school record of 64.69-meters. McClain's throw was the sixth-best throw in the nation, which gave her an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, in
“That was a huge personal record, which ranks her in the top six nationally,” head coach Rene Sepulveda said.
In the 5,000-meter run, freshman Mary Davies finished fifth with a national qualifying time of 16:35.01. Davies now has qualified two events for the NCAA Championships, the 5k and the 10k.
The final Cowgirl to compete on day one was junior Alison Erzinger. Erzinger finished fourth in the preliminary round of the 400-meter dash with a time of 58:34. Erzinger will run the finals Saturday.
After day one the Cowgirls are in fifth with 12 points, behind Kansas (First-place), Kansas State, Colorado and Baylor.
