Cowgirls to Compete at Midwest Regionals

Kuncova and Davies, who both are national qualifiers in the 10,000-meter run, will also compete in the 5,000-meter run at regionals.
Senior Delisa McClain (No. 8 national ranking) will start things off for the Cowgirls, as she will compete in the hammer throw.
“Delisa has been improving in practice this past week,” assistant coach Teri Steer said.
Senior Halee Prickett (No. 14 national ranking) looks to have a strong performance in her hometown, as the Big 12 runner-up finisher will compete in the shot put.
“I am excited to compete at the Regional Championships in my hometown,” senior Halee Prickett said.
“We hope that she does the right things to get a personal record at the meet,” Steer said.
In the triple jump, the Cowgirls will look to add points to the team standings from senior Paula Ogunbanjo.
“This is my third time to compete at the Midwest Regional Championships and by Gods grace I will qualify for the NCAA Championships,” senior Paula Ogunbanjo said.
The Cowgirls will then look to have strong performances from Kuncova (No. 5 national ranking) and freshman Eva Tomankova in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Junior Alison Erzinger is hoping to qualify for the nationals, as she will be running in the 400-meter hurdles.
“I feel I have come further in one season than I have in three years of running track,” junior Alison Erzinger said. “Regionals is going to be a successful meet for me regardless of the outcome.”
The Cowgirls will be without the injured senior Michelle Prowse, as she was a qualifier in the 5k, 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 1,500-meter run.
