Prickett Finishes Second at Big 12 Championships

MANHATTAN, Kan., - Senior Halee Prickett had a second-place finish in the shot put to keep the 20th ranked Oklahoma State women's track and field team in the middle of the team standings, after day two of the Big 12 Outdoor Championships on Saturday, in Manhattan, Kan.
Prickett's performance gave the Cowgirls eight points towards the team standings, after the 53'2.25” (16.21-meters) throw. Freshman Brandi Broaddus had a personal best performance in the event with a throw of 42'1” (13.02-meters).
"I was really excited because I had a back injury and I hadn't hit over 50 feet all year,“ senior Halee Prickett said. “I finally hit a personal best at 53‘2.25 and I am really glad that I came out with this type of performance in my last Big 12 championship.”
Senior Valentina Medina then set a qualifying time of 4:29.48 in the1,500-meter preliminary run. Medina will start in fifth position in Sunday's finals.
Freshman Tihana Sarac finished ninth in the heptathlon with 4,846 points, which was one position from scoring.
Junior Alison Erzinger then had an impressive performance in the 400-meter hurdles, setting a personal best time of 58.88 to qualify for the finals.
In the long jump, senior Paula Ogunbanjo had a jump of 19'04.25” (5.90-meters) to finish 11th in the event.
After the second day of the championships, Nebraska sits on top of the standings with 49 points. Texas A&M follows with Kansas and Texas Tech, while the Cowgirls will go into Sunday's events in sixth-place.
