Cowgirls to Compete at Texas Relays

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's track and field team will travel to Austin, Texas, to compete in the Texas Relays on Thursday, at the Mike A. Myers Stadium.
In the 1,500-meter run, the Cowgirls will compete senior Valentina Medina, who is the returning Big 12 Outdoor Champion in the event, senior Michelle Prowse and freshman Eva Tomankova. Prowse goes into competition with a NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Junior Barbora Kuncova will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Kuncova and Freshman Mary Davies are the only two Cowgirls that have earned a NCAA automatic qualifying mark, with them coming in the 10k run at the Stanford Invitational.
In the hammer throw, senior Delisa McClain and freshman Deleanor Kirkpatrick will go up against some of the best competitors in the nation. McClain this season has the set the school record in the event and also set a NCAA regional qualifying mark of 202'11 (61.84-meters) at the Tulsa Duels, March. 25.
“This will be a great field of competitors in the hammer throw,” head coach Rene Sepulveda said. “This competition will also be the best that Delisa has got to go up against while at Oklahoma State.”
The Cowgirls will then look to have a strong performance from senior Halee Prickett, as she will compete in shot put. Freshmen Brandi Broaddus and LeKendra Greathouse will also compete in the event.
Junior Alison Erzinger will be questionable in the 400-meter hurdles, due to a dislocated elbow.
The University of Texas will host the three day competition with the events starting at 11:00 a.m.
