Freshmen Throwers Improve at K.T. Woodman Track Classic

WICHITA, Kan. – Oklahoma State's women's track and field team was led by the freshmen throwers at the K.T. Woodman Track Classic on Sunday, at Wichita, Kan.
Freshman Deleanor Kirkpatrick finished second in the hammer throw, as she threw for a personal record of 164'1” (50.24-meters).
In the discus throw, the Cowgirls had a solid performance from freshman LaKendra Greathouse, as she had a second-place finish and set a personal record of 144'02” (43.94-meters).
The Cowgirls then showed the potential of their young talent as three freshmen finished top 10 in the shot put. Freshman Brandi Broaddus had the top finish for the Cowgirls in the event, throwing for 43-07.75 (13.30-meters) to finish third, while Greathouse finished right behind her in fourth-place. Kirkpatrick then put up an impressive performance, throwing for a personal record of 41-08 (12.70-meters).
Senior Paula Ogunbango improved her mark in triple jump, finishing first with a jump of 41'06” (12.65-meters). Also in the event, senior Adriene Crenshaw finished eighth with a jump of 34'0” (10.36-meters).
In the long jump, three Cowgirls finished in the top 10 with Ogunbanjo finishing third, while senior Cody Birk and junior Melissa N'Dubilo finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
"It has been good to see Paula have steady improvement on her jumps this season," head coach Rene Sepulveda said.
N'Dubilo also competed in the 200-meter dash, where she finished with a time of 25.06.
Senior Lisa Bowles then set a personal record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:58.49 to finish 12th. Also for the Cowgirls, senior Catherine Clifford finished second in the 5k, while freshman Maria Trejo finished third.
