Cowboy Baseball Rallies Past BYU 5-4

The Cowboys improved to 8-4 on the year, while Brigham Young fell to
(3-0) went the distance for the Pokes' first complete game pitching performance of the year. He tied a career high with 11 strikeouts and walked only one, while giving up four runs off of eight hits in the win.
Back to back one-out singles by and Ty Wright off of Cougar starter Blake Torgerson (0-1) set up Hernandez' heroics. Torgerson pitched 7.2 innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits with three strikeouts.
BYU's Kory Knell led off the ninth with a single to right, but the rally was thwarted on the next at bat as Ben Saylor's deep drive to right was caught by who threw to second and doubled up Knell. then struck out Marcus Villezcas to end the game.
The Cowboys jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run double by . He finished the night 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
BYU battled back with a RBI single by Sean McNaughton in the fifth and a solo homer by Jeff Hiestand in the sixth to tie the game.
The Cougars then took a 4-2 lead in the seventh courtesy of a two-run homer by McNaughton.
responded for the Pokes with a two-run homer of his own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game back up at 4-4.
