Cowboy Baseball Edges Past Kansas State 3-2

OSU improved to 16-6 on the year and 1-0 in conference play, while KSU fell to 12-6 and 0-1 in league action.
The Cowboys led 3-0 with junior an out away from a complete game four-hit shutout before the Wildcats strung together consecutive hits and a hit by pitch to load the bases. Shortstop Eric Eymann singled up the middle to score a run that also knocked Cowley out of the game. Reliever then walked pinch hitter Cris Tapia with the bases loaded to cut the lead to one before rebounding to get Barrett Rice to pop up to second to end the game and pick up his third save of the season.
Catcher got the Pokes on the board in the fifth on a RBI double to left-center field. OSU added two more runs in the sixth on a sacrifice fly RBI by and a RBI single by third baseman .
Gutierrez led the Cowboys offensively, going 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Ryal had two hits and and an RBI as well.
Leftfielder Steve Murphy led the Wildcats with three of the team's seven hits. Starter Chase Mitchell (3-1) was charged with his first loss of the season after allowing three runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings of work.
