Busy Weekend Set for Cowgirls

At the J.D. Martin Invitational, senior Delisa McClain who has earned an NCAA qualifying mark, will compete for the Cowgirls in the weight throw. McClain has had an impressive season, as she has broken the school record in the weight throw for the past three meets. She holds the record with a throw of 67'4.5(20.54 meters), and is ranked No. 1 in the Big 12 and is also ranked No. 7 nationally. Cowgirl freshmen Delinour Kirkpatrick (ranked No. 9 in the Big 12) and Brandi Broaddus will compete in the weight throw, while Broaddus will also compete in the shot put.
Freshman Tihana Sarac will suit up in her first meet of the season and will compete in her first ever Pentathlon, on Friday.
The Cowgirls will also hope to have senior Halee Prickett back to 100 percent, as she has been out of action due to having the flu. Prickett, who is No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 7 nationally, will compete in the shot put.
Senior Paula Ogunbanjo, who won the triple-jump at the Jayhawk Invitational last week, will carry her No. 4 Big 12 ranking into the events.
The University of Oklahoma will host the All-Day meet, with the field events starting at 10 a.m.
At the Notre Dame Invitational, the Cowgirls will have senior Valentina Medina, the 2004 Big 12 1,500-meter outdoor champion, see her first competition of the year. Medina will compete in the distance medley relay with senior Michelle Prowse, junior Alison Erzinger and freshman Eva Tomankova. The Cowgirl DMR team is ranked first in the Big 12, with their best time of 11:59.96 at the University of Washington Invitational.
Freshman Mary Davies is ranked No. 1in the Big 12 in the 5,000-meter run , and will look to have a strong performance in that event.
The Cowgirls will also have junior Barbora Kuncova and senior JoAnna Fedick compete in the 1,000-meter run and will have Tomankova and freshmen Kim Blomkivst compete in the mile run.
The Cowgirls will also compete against Missouri and numerous Big 10 schools. The University of Notre Dame will host the meet, with the events starting at 10 a.m.
