Cowgirl Soccer Completes Recruiting Class
February 23, 2005 | Cowgirl Soccer
Grand, a midfielder/forward, played in 25 games for the Swiss Under-19 National Team and scored 15 goals. The Switzerland native also played with the squad in the 2002 UEFA European Championship. Currently, Grand plays for the Swiss “A” National Team.
“Rachel is a teammate of former Cowgirl Kathrin Lehmann on the Swiss National Team,” stated associate head coach Colin Carmichael. “She is a very technical player who can come in on the left side of the midfield or up front. She has a vast amount of experience on the international level and will make an immediate impact.”
A native of Begtendorf, Germany, Loistl is a former teammate of current Cowgirl Adriane Radtke. Loistl has played for the German National Team at all youth age groups, seeing action in 30 contests. The defender currently plays for the Under-21 National Pool “A” squad.
“Johanna is a defender who is a very good athlete and very strong player,” commented Carmichael. “She is experienced and will bring a lot of maturity to our back line. She has represented her country many times and will be a great addition to our program.”
In addition to Grand and Loistl, the OSU staff signed two other international standouts, Angelika Feldbacher and Bettina Grossman, and Leah Hope (Tulsa, Okla.) and Jessica Jarrell (Highland Village, Texas).
“We had to replace a strong senior class that completed their eligibility last fall and we feel that we were able to do so,” said Carmichael. “We brought in six girls with a lot of experience on all levels and feel that all six will be able to contribute right away.”
