Tennessee Squeaks Past Oklahoma State 6-5

HOUSTON Â Freshman James Adkins pitched seven innings of four-hit ball to lead Tennessee to a 6-5 win over Oklahoma State in baseball action Sunday afternoon at Minute Maid Park.
The Vols improved to 1-2 with the win, while the Cowboys fell to 4-2 overall and 1-2 at the tournament.
Adkins (1-0) struck out eight with three walks and left the game with a 6-1 lead.
OSU scored a run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Keanon Simon and then scored three more in the ninth on homer by to cut the lead to 6-5. laced a double down the right field line with two outs, but the rally ended there as flied to center to end the game.
Ryal led the Cowboys offensively with three hits on the afternoon, while Colbert added two of his own.
The Cowboys jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Vols came right back to tie the game in the second when third baseman Chase Headley stole home on a double steal play.
Daniels (1-1) gave up five runs, with just one earned on six hits with six strikeouts and a walk in the losing effort. Reliever gave up one unearned run in 1.1 innings of work, while pitched two innings of one-hit scoreless relief in his Cowboy debut.
