Cowboy Golf Rolls To First Title Of Spring Season

After opening the tournament with a school record, 24-under-par 264 team score on Wednesday, the Cowboys closed out the event with a 267, giving them a 54-hole total of 801 and a seven-shot victory over Georgia Tech.
OSU's 63-under team total shattered the program's previous low of 813, 51-under, set during the 1999 Red River Classic. The Cowboys' previous low 18-hole score was set with their second-round 265 last year at The Maxwell.
OSU got a solid team effort throughout the week as three players were among the top four in the individual race and 11 of the squad's 15 individual rounds were in the 60s.
Sophomore Tyler Leon blistered the 6,814-yard, par-72 Waikoloa Village Golf Club with a 7-under 65 en route to his first career victory. The Dallas, Texas native's 21-under-par total of 195 was three shots clear of the individual runners-up, Cowboy teammate Alex Norén and Washington's James Lepp.
Norén, a senior from Stockholm, Sweden, posted a final-round 66 to finish at 198 and earn his second career second-place finish, while redshirt sophomore Ryan Posey tied Georgia Tech's Roberto Castro for fourth place at 199 after carding a 68 during his final round.
Freshman Pablo Martin turned in his second 68 of the tournament to finish at 7-under 209 and tied with four other players for 37th place.
Sophomore Zac Reynolds tournament-low round of 70 moved him to even-par 216 and a 10-way deadlock for 80th.
OSU will return to action on Feb. 27 when it travels to San Juan, Puerto Rico to take part in the Puerto Rico Classic.
