Greathouse and Cowgirls perform well in season opener

Birk, a senior from Rockport, Texas, finished third in the long jump with a distance of 5.64-meters, while senior Melissa N'Dubilo (seventh-place) leaped 5.44-meters in the event.

“LaKendra had the most impressive performance of any Cowgirl,” Cowgirl head coach Rene Sepulveda said.
Sophomores Donielle Amrein and Brandi Broaddus also gave the Pokes a look in the shot put as they finished with throws of 11.37 and 11.28-meters.
The Cowgirls then received strong finishes from sophomore Deleanor Kirkpatrick and freshman Branighan Vann in the weight throw. Kirkpatrick and Vann finished fifth and 11th, while Kirkpatrick threw a personal record of 16.84-meters.
“LaKendra and Deleanor both showed signs that they can be competitive by the Big 12 Indoor Championships,” Sepulveda said.
OSU then had strong finishes in the 1,000-meter run from freshman Jennifer Clarke and sophomores Stephanie Lovely and Meghan Sullivan. The trio finished the event seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.
It was Lovely's first competition in track as she is also a member of the Cowgirl soccer team.
Freshman long jumper Nikki Winningham had a mark of 1.53-meters in her first collegiate competition.
