Oklahoma State set to Host No. 10 Lehigh
December 01, 2005 | Cowboy Wrestling
Oklahoma State will open the home portion of its wrestling schedule when it hosts No. 10 Lehigh on Friday night at 7 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys have never lost to the Mountain Hawks. OSU is 7-0 all-time versus Lehigh in a series that did not begin until 1985. Oklahoma State wrestled Lehigh twice last year winning 20-16 in the semifinals of the National Duals in Cleveland, Ohio, and OSU won 24-9 in a road dual in Bethlehem, Pa. The last meeting in Stillwater was during the 2003-04 season and OSU came away with a 25-12 victory.
Scouting the Mountain Hawks
Lehigh is led by-top-ranked Troy Letters at 165. The senior out of Shaler, Pa., is a three-time All-American. He is coming off of a third-place finish at the 2005 Championships and a national championship during the 2004 season. He has only lost four matches in his career and comes to Stillwater with a 97-4 career record. The Mountain Hawks have another returning All-American in Cory Cooperman. Cooperman defeated OSU's Daniel Frishkorn to take third-place at the 2005 NCAA Championships. The two-time All-American was high school teammates with Zack Esposito and Steve Mocco at the Blair Academy. Lehigh also boasts two past All-Americans in Derek Zinck and Travis Frick. Zinck finished eighth in 2003 and comes into this dual ranked No. 8 in the country, while Frick finished fourth in 2004 and in currently ranked sixth.
