Cowboys Host Tech in Home Finale
Oklahoma State hosts Texas Tech Saturday in the final home contest of the 2005 season. It is the final home game for 19 Oklahoma State seniors who will be recognized in pregame ceremonies. It's also the second time in as many games the Cowboys have hosted a nationally ranked Big 12 opponent. Kickoff at Boone Pickens Stadium is set for 1:05 p.m. (CST).
Records/Rankings
Oklahoma State dives into week nine of the 2005 regular season with an overall record of 3-5 and looking for its initial Big 12 Conference win. Texas Tech comes to Stillwater with an overall record of 8-1 and a Big 12 Conference mark of 5-1. The Red Raiders are coming to Stillwater fresh off a 56-17 win over Texas A&M in Lubbock last weekend while the Cowboys were idle after losing to second-ranked Texas in Stillwater on October 29. Texas Tech will come to Stillwater ranked 13th in both the Associated Press poll and USA Today/Coaches poll.

Saturday's game between OSU and Texas Tech will kick off at 1 p.m. The game will not be televised. Tickets remain for the game and can be purchased at the Athletic Ticket Office, by calling 1-877-ALL-4-OSU or by going online at www.okstate.com.
The Walk
For the final time in 2005, Oklahoma State fans are invited to join the tradition and line Hester Street as the Cowboys walk to Boone Pickens Stadium from the Atherton Student Union Hotel on game day. The walk will begin approximately 2-1/2 hours prior to kickoff.
On the Air
While there is no television for Saturday's game against Texas Tech, the radio broadcast of the game is available on the Cowboy Football Network and on SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Ch. 119. Dave Hunziker, in his fifth season, handles the play-by-play duties, while John Holcomb, sports director at KOTV-TV (CBS) in Tulsa, is in his first year as analyst. Robert Allen provides the sideline reporting for the fourth year.
Senior Day
Saturday's game against Texas Tech wraps up the 2005 home schedule for Oklahoma State, as well as the home career for 19 Cowboy seniors. Each senior will be introduced in pregame ceremonies. OSU's 2005 senior class includes 11 players who are either full- or part-time starters this season.
OSU-Texas Tech: Series History
When Oklahoma State and Texas Tech collide Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium, it will mark the 33rd all-time meeting between the two schools. Texas Tech owns a 19-10-3 series advantage over the Cowboys, and the Red Raiders have won seven of the nine meetings since the formation of the Big 12 Conference. The Cowboys defeated the Red Raiders the last time in Stillwater by a 51-49 margin. Oklahoma State has an 8-6 record against Texas Tech in Stillwater.
Points and Points and Points
The last four meetings between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech have certainly been high-scoring affairs. In fact, over the past four games, the two teams have combined for 298 total points, an average of 74.5 per game. Tech has won three of those four games with an average point production of 44.5 compared to O-State's 30 points per contest. In the entire history of the OSU-TTU series, there have been just four shutouts, 58-0 by Tech in 2000, 13-0 by OSU in 1957, and three straight Texas Tech shutouts in the first three games the teams ever played (1935, ‘36 and 1937).
OSU-Tech: Memorable Moments
2003 — One of the most memorable games in recent Boone Pickens Stadium history. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech combined for 100 points in a game that wasn't decided until Cowboy defender Jon Holland intercepted a B. J. Symons' pass with 1:05 remaining in the game. The Texas Tech quarterback completed 42 passes for 552 yards, but it wasn't enough against an Oklahoma State team that led 48-21 going into the fourth quarter. The final quarter produced a furious Tech rally that produced three touchdowns in a four-minute span and brought the visitors to within a touchdown with 9:09 to play. OSU's final points of the day came on a 20 yard Luke Phillips field goal, but Tech scored with 3:51 to play, had the ball and was driving for a possible game-winner when Holland produced the heroics.
1988 — Oklahoma State and Texas Tech boarded a Jumbo Jet in Dallas, Texas, along with the Miami Dolphin cheerleaders and the Grambling band, for a day-long journey to Tokyo, Japan, where the teams would put on an offensive show for a sold-out crowd in the Tokyo Dome. The star of the show was OSU tailback Barry Sanders. Literally hours after Sanders claimed the Heisman Trophy from a studio in the CBS News Bureau in downtown Tokyo, he ran wild in a 45-42 Cowboy win. Sanders carried the football 44 times against Texas Tech for 332 yards and four touchdowns. The Cowboys would need every yard and every point against the Red Raiders who amassed 553 total yards. The game took three hours and 37 minutes to play and produced 12 touchdowns and one field goal. Texas Tech led at the half behind the passing of quarterback Billy Joe Tolliver, but the Cowboys took a 24-21 lead less than three minutes into the third quarter. Quarterback Mike Gundy completed 18 of 27 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown.
OSU Last Week
Oklahoma State was idle from game competition last week, so the Cowboys spent Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on the practice field. The Cowboys were coming off a 47-28 loss to second-ranked Texas in a game OSU led 28-9 before Texas came back.
OSU-Texas Rewind
The Cowboys stunned Texas with three first-quarter touchdowns and led the Longhorns 28-9 with less than six minutes to play in the second quarter before UT launched a rally that would result in a 47-28 Longhorn win. Oklahoma State's offense enjoyed perhaps it's best outing of the season behind the running of tailback Mike Hamilton and the quarterback play of Al Peña. Hamilton had a career high 31 carries for 194 yards while Peña completed 12 of 27 passes for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Peña also scored a touchdown rushing. Wide receiver D'Juan Woods had four catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, the Cowboys shut down Texas' high-powered offense in the first half, allowing just 196 total yards on 39 plays. Defensive end Victor DeGrate had one of his best games of the season with nine total tackles and a sack.
Texas Tech Last Week
The Red Raiders ran their season record to 8-1 with a 56-17 win over Texas A&M in Lubbock. Taurean Henderson rushed for 109 yards and four touchdowns as the Red Raiders broke open a tight game with 42 second-half points. Texas Tech led by just four, 14-10, at the half, but scored three unanswered third-quarter touchdowns to put the game away. Tech quarterback Cody Hodges completed 29 of 44 passes for 408 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Aggies. Hodges and Henderson were the key parts of a Tech offense that amassed 627 total yards. Tech had 32 first downs to A&M's 18, and the Red Raiders had just one turnover compared to three by the Aggies.
Head Coach Mike Leach
Mike Leach is in his sixth season as head coach at Texas Tech, and the Red Raiders are assured a sixth-straight winning season and bowl appearance. Leach came to Texas Tech after two years on Bob Stoops' Oklahoma staff and two years at Kentucky. Under Leach, Texas Tech has led the country three straight years in passing, and could make it four this season. Leach will bring a career record of 47-24 into Saturday's game against the Cowboys.

Texas Tech comes to Stillwater boasting one of the most productive offenses in the nation and a defense that has played extremely well all season. The Red Raiders lead the country in passing offense, averaging 433.3 yards per game. Quarterback Cody Hodges is 12th in the country in passing efficiency, but leads the nation in total offense with a per-game average of 395.1 yards. The Red Raiders are second in the country in total offense as a team, and are third in the NCAA in scoring, averaging 47 points per game. Texas Tech has scored 50 or more points in five of their nine games to date, and had a season-high 80 points in a 59 point win over Sam Houston State. On the other side of the ball, Texas Tech is 13th in the country in pass efficiency defense and 27th in the country in total defense, allowing 325.9 yards per game. Two Tech receivers — Joel Filani and Robert Johnson — are among the top 25 receivers in the country.
