Cowgirls sign Wisconsin Prep Standout
November 16, 2005 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
Schroeder, a former volleyball standout, has only been running in competition for two years in cross country as she posted an impressive 10th-place finish as junior at the Wisconsin Cross Country State Meet, while improving to a second-place finish at this year's meet. Schroeder never finished lower than second in each meet she competed in this season.
During her first season of track in 2005, Schroeder produced quality finishes in the 3,200-meter (10:55) and in the mile run (5:07) at the Wisconsin state meet, where she finished second and fifth in the events.
“Leah still has her senior season in track to improve on her times,” Cowgirl head coach Rene Sepulveda said. “After watching her run this fall, I believe she can be one our top-seven runners during the 2006 cross country season.”
Schroeder will be eligible to compete in the fall of 2006, as she joins a talented group of runners, which includes Mary Davies, Nina Andersson, Eva Slavikova, Eva Tomankova, Anissa Angelosante, Maria Trejo, Kim Blomkivst and Brittany Hill.
