Cowgirl runners to compete at Regionals
November 10, 2005 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
The top two teams earn automatic berths in the NCAA Championships to be held Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Cowgirl runners will get their strongest competition from No. 6 Illinois and No. 11 Minnesota, as they are looking to improve on a third-place finish from a year ago.
“We have a strong region with three teams rated in the top 20,” Cowgirl head coach Rene Sepulveda said. “Our goal is to finish in the top three as a team.”
Sophomore Mary Davies, who was the lone Cowgirl to advance into the championships last season, is riding high for OSU as she has been the top team finisher for the last two meets.
Along with Davies, the Pokes are looking to get strong performances from seniors Barbora Kuncova and Valentina Medina. The duo has consistently run in the team's top five this season.
OSU will then look to get added support from senior Michelle Prowse and junior Eva Slavikova. Freshmen Nina Andersson and Anissa Angelosante will be valuable to the Cowgirls' team finish, while sophomore Eva Tomankova will rest this weekend.
The University of Iowa will host the event with the gun sounding off a 12:15 p.m.
