Cowboy Golf Signs Prep Standout to Letter of Intent

A native of McKinney, Texas, Ward was named a honorable mention All-America selection the past two seasons by the American Junior Golf Association.
“We have had a lot of success in the past with players from the state of Texas and feel Chris will help us continue that trend,” Cowboy head coach Mike McGraw said. “He is a talented player whose results have shown that he has a chance to be an excellent player at the Division I level.”
Victories at the Future Tour Championship's Exxon-BFI event, the Junior Orange Bowl and the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Junior at The Woodlands line Ward's list of golf achievements.
As a sophomore, he finished second at the Texas Class 5A state championship after winning both the region and district tournaments on his way to being named a first-team all-area selection. He also competed as a member of the West squad in 2004 at the prestigious Canon Cup, posting a 3-1 mark during the event
Last season, Ward captured the district title again before finishing as the runner-up at the Class 4A state tournament. In addition, he qualified for the 105th U.S. Amateur Championship at Philadelphia's Merion Golf Club.
