Cowboy Football to Host Special Spectators Saturday
October 07, 2005 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER, OK - Special Spectators and the Oklahoma State University Athletic Department will host seven children affected with serious illnesses and their families at the Cowboys' football game against Missouri this Saturday in Stillwater.
The kids' attendance at the game is in conjunction with the Oklahoma State football team's participation in Special Spectators, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization. Special Spectators, in partnership with Division 1-A football programs and children's hospitals, coordinates a day of fun and excitement for seriously ill children and their parents at a college football game while exposing student-athletes to the inspiration and reward of making a powerful contribution to the community by visiting children's hospitals and pediatric units.
Through the Cowboys' generous involvement in Special Spectators, the children will visit with players and coaches at the end of “The Walk,” enjoy a pre-game tailgate party and watch the Cowboys battle the Tigers from the comfort of a Boone Pickens Stadium suite.
The children's participation is also possible through assistance from the Oklahoma Children's Cancer Association and Camp Cavett.
