Cowboys complete World Series, fall practice
October 26, 2005 | Cowboy Baseball
After dividing the roster into two teams, the Black team won the series by taking the first two games, but the Orange team won Wednesday's game.
Overall, third-year coach Frank Anderson was pleased with the performances put on display in front of more than 200 fans over the the three-day period.
“I thought we did some good things,” Anderson said. “We had to split them up, so we had some rough spots and some guys play out of position, but we swung the bat pretty good with the guys that we thought could swing the bat.
“We need to smooth out some pitching situations, but for the most part, we were pretty pleased.”
While Anderson would have liked to have seen everyone participate in the games, he said the team could take some positives from the absences of a few returning players from the lineup.
“We had some guys that will play big roles, but didn't play in this thing, which is fine,” Anderson said. “We got to get some other people some at-bats and make some decisions on what we like and don't like.”
After watching players show their skills for almost a month, Anderson said the outfield looks to be an area rich with depth.
“Offensively, they have a chance to be really good,” Anderson said. “I like what we have out there. Obviously, it has the most depth of veterans of any place we've got.”
